Joint pain, migraines, inflammation…
With the arrival of the first cold and wet weather, we often suffer some kind of pain: headache, joint pain, back pain, inflammation… anything we can do to temporarily alleviate these pains is of great help for us So a hot bath with salt, or a warm seed pad on the site of the localized pain, can make us feel a little better. However, sometimes these pains are too continuous, or we have different symptoms that can make us think that we have too high Histamine levels, we explain it:
Histamine is an amine derived from the amino acid Histidine, which is found in proteins. It has an important role in the regulation of the body’s organic functions and tissues. It is of vital importance for primary immunity, specifically for allergy responses. It also acts as a neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, so it affects our mood and gastric secretions. When this substance is elevated in the blood it is called Chronic Histaminosis and is an important factor in Central Sensitivity Syndrome. The reason is because there is an imbalance between the elimination and intake of histamine through food or due to excessive production by mast cells (allergic reaction) or chronic stress.
If you suffer from more than 2-3 symptoms from the list, you may need to reduce the histamine in your body:
• Abdominal and/or generalized inflammation • Digestive problems, ulcers, nausea, gastritis.. • Constipation or diarrhea • Various pains due to the alteration of sensory functions – Headache (migraine, headache…) – Mal d back or constant contractures – Joint pain… • Dry skin, dermatitis or constant itching • Abnormal menstrual cycle • Difficulty falling asleep due to overstimulation • Fatigue and muscle fatigue • Change in blood pressure (it can be hyper as hypo). Usually, it is hypotension, as it dilates the blood vessels. • Difficulty losing weight due to excess fluid retention. • Affects Cognition: Alterations of memory and alteration of emotional functions, creating depression, sadness or anxiety. • Changes in body temperature, is constantly cold or hot • Tinnitus • Vertigo
WHAT IS THE TREATMENT?
Reduce histamine levels and increase the activity of DAO (an enzyme that helps eliminate it “diamine oxidase”) • Elimination diet: Foods rich in histamine are eliminated for 1-3 months (a treatment is necessary personalized nutrition, as it can be poor nutrition if it is not done correctly and a treatment protocol needs to be done to solve the origin)
• Supplements we should take to help create DAO:
· Zinc, Copper, Vitamin C, vitamin B6 · DAO supplement (to find out if you have a DAO deficiency, a genetic study can be done in specialized laboratories) · Digestive enzymes
• Foods and products that we must eliminate or reduce:
· Proteins · Citrus fruits · Chocolate and cocoa · Nuts and dehydrated fruit · Fermented dairy products such as yogurt and cheese · Fermented foods such as pickles, sauerkraut… · Processed, cured, smoked or fermented meats · Mushrooms · Seafood and canned fish or frozen · Spices · Yeast · Tomatoes and spinach · Alcohol and fermented beverages · Artificial colors or preservatives · Frozen and preserved foods
• Recommended foods and herbs that we should increase our consumption of:
· Green tea · Userda sprouts · Thyme, nettle and chamomile · Onion, especially red · Ginger both infused and fresh in cooking · Broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower
• Recommended supplementation:
· Mega Quercetin (Solaray). In all processes of inflammation and lack of antioxidants. · Daosin (Daosin): When there is a deficiency of the DAO enzyme. · Migrasin (Daosin). When there are frequent migraines and headaches due to high histamine. · Aid-inflam (Sura vitasan): In all processes of inflammation and joint pain · Ergy Cox (Nutergia) In all processes of inflammation and pain.
